AFTER I FALL DOWN THE STAIRS AT THE GOLDEN TEMPLE by Mary Oliver

For a while I could not remember some word I was in need of,
and I was bereaved and said: where are you, beloved friend?

While browsing for pictures for Timachus' visualosities, I came upon these photos taken at the 2004 (I think?) Olympic Games torch-lighting ceremony. They just gave me such a Sappho vibe, honestly. Like, this was the Army of Lesbos or something. The ritualistic nature of it, the sisterhood-feeling, the costumes, everything. Sooooo pretty.

SOMETHING JUST LIKE THIS (COLDPLAY) - ROMY WAVE
BELIEVER (IMAGINE DRAGONS) - ROMY WAVE

And trying to find music to put on Timachus' playlist, I discovered this artist. I loved, loved, loved her cover of Something Just Like This and have possibly listened to it on a 1 hour loop the past couple of days, but just found her piano cover of Believer by Imagine Dragons and that one is smashing as well, so decided to run with two videos today. Just to share her amazing voice.

WHAT'S GOING ON IN RL
The first half of the week has been massively tiring. We cleaned all day Monday, then I got an emergency call from a friend in the evening that took an hour and drained me completely, while I still had to go to work Tuesday (which went fine, but still took some energy) and yesterday, I had a visit from a friend I hadn't seen before covid and while it was so wonderful to see her again, wow, was I completely done for afterwards. And she was only here a few hours, but I was soooo tired yesterday night, I just collapsed around ten and slept until four, almost without waking up and that's a rarity for me.

However, it was lovely to see her again, hearing about her life, telling her about mine, sharing current writing projects (she's an author, too and the one I've written the one book I've published with), fandom, family, everything in between. She's such an easy-going, heartfelt person and I realized just how much I've missed her. I'll do more to try and keep up contact from here on out.

I'm too good at just ghosting on people. I don't do it on purpose, but when I have my down periods I simply don't have the energy to do my part of the job, keeping in touch. I'll have to work on that.

Today, K's off visiting her grandmother and I'm home alone. Just writing and RP'ing and listening to nice, relaxing music. I think the plan for the rest of the morning is to write some more of Timachus' poetry. I referenced a sequence of poems he'd written in my most recent fic and it made me want to write it out, so maybe I'll do that afterwards.

WHAT'S GOING ON IN FANDOM/RP
FIRST OFF, BIG NEWS! K. finished her work on Otanius' (Timachus' future boyfriend) journal and while I've put up the layout and what not, she added the most wonderful gif to the profile page and the MOST WONDERFUL fic to the journal proper. I cannot stress how good this piece of writing is. I really feel like I know Otanius as a person from reading it, it's beautifully written and the structure is so, so pleasing. Can't wait till we start letting these two interact properly, it's gonna spark, hah hah.

No, seriously, I'm in love.

I've written six pieces of fic/misc. for Timachus now and put them in a series on AO3. Here. General warnings include: Ancient Rome-esque approach to slavery, power imbalances in relationships and a single fic marked underage, because Timachus was 15 during its events, his lover 18. Each one of these fics/misc. writings were made in response to a prompt from my [community profile] genprompt_bingo card and as such, I have finished my diagonal line and am well on my way on finishing a horizontal row as well. This one, guys, I might actually be able to fill completely. All the prompts inspire me and I could see myself answer them all.

So, today, I think the plan's some poetry inspired by the word, steel, and maybe a fic about how Timachus was abducted and taken to Efith as a kid.

And maybe, if K. has the energy tonight, we'll let these two boys meet finally.
