FRAGMENT 16 by Sappho

__________

Just the combination of old fandom love and forever love, Sappho.

And some favourite female authors represented.

CARMEN - PARIS OPERA BALLET

When you've seen Ana Laguna in the role of Carmen, you've pretty much seen the ultimate version of the role and no one else can dream to compete, but Almandine here does a pretty good job, I think. Not as forceful in her movements, a bit more on the playful side, but I like it, I think she gets what it's about and shows it in her own way.

But I'm still going to watch my DVD with Ana Laguna some time soon.

WHAT'S GOING ON IN RL
My gf and I have had a very typical "first day of the vacation" kinda day today. Zero energy, slept a lot, didn't do the cleaning, didn't do the dinner making, just survived on as little activity as possible. Hopefully that means we'll have more energy the rest of the vacation to actually be alive and responsive people again.

K. did manage to do the grocery shopping, so we have a full fridge again, which is nice. And we have drunk a
lot of tea and coffee. And she has been absorbed in Clone Wars and I have been reading and writing, so we haven't been completely lost, just... not functional in any adult way.

But women with little kids inside survive, too. Best they can.

WHAT'S GOING ON IN FANDOM/RP
Normally I don't work that much in fantasy, it's just not really been my genre since I was a young adult where I read literally everything? The past ten years, I haven't read fantasy at all and only sporadically dabbled in the genre myself, writing-wise. Well, look at me now, having come up with an Ancient Rome/Greece-inspired fantasy setting and two characters in it where I've gone ahead and created a journal for one of them, and K. graciously, because she's a goddess, has decided to pick up the other. I think this could be epic. I think this could be great. Magic is elemental-based here, plus there's some mystical force binding everything together and wielders of magic work in the temples to help uphold the prosperity of the whole land. Not too complex, but still lots of potential for world-building. We've already had fun of it today, talking for an hour and a half about the dynamics of the religious system and government and such. That's where collaborative writing is the best, tbh.

Anyway, I also wrote a fic about my character (for the 22nd round of [community profile] genprompt_bingo, wild card prompt) and his premises and I think it came out okay (better than okay, really) and I am looking forward to writing more about him.

And I look forward to playing with K. again. To have time and energy for that.
