tuesday.
The beautiful weather spilled over into today. The sky is the brightest, crispest blue and it's only getting warmer in temperature. I took the bus downtown and walked from midtown to the library and it was just so lovely.
Then, I spent all morning until noon at the library, writing. I hadn't made a concrete goal, because yesterday was so bad and I didn't wanna disappoint myself, but -- thanks to the sprint group in the Danish NaNo Discord server, I actually managed to write almost 2000 words in one sitting. Which means I went from covering the first nine days of January to having written poems for the first 14. That was some spurt, OMG.
I hope to get at least a few more days done before my GF gets home from work, after which it's back to RP'ing some Star Wars, but even if I don't get around to that, I'm insanely proud of my productivity today. It's been a good, mentally very balanced day. I'm tired now, but in a good "I've used myself just until the limit but not over" way.
For now, I'm back home, enjoying the new tea I bought while I was downtown, a white tea blend called "White Symphony" and it's really very spring-like and tastes sweet of florals and berries. It's one of my favourite teas of all time.
JANUARY 14th
The horse is not suspicious, it doesn’t know any better.
However, the Amazon knows and the Amazon is suspicious; she looks at the landscape through which they’re passing, all sound subdued, all motion halted, even the wind holding its breath. She has not seen settlers since they left the other side. She has not seen living settlers since she told the home for which she is headed now, adieu.
Either she has followed at the heels of death, or she herself has ushered it in.
Isn’t the truth plain to see? This is a one-way road. On that road there is only room for one rider. Where there is not yet any war to be found, it is simply a blank space waiting to be full of it.
Beginning to collect birthday wishes, since my birthday is coming up (March 20th). Lots of books, haha, like always. I've added all the Renée Vivien I could find in English to my list, as well as the Naples-series by Elena Ferrante that I've wanted to read since I wrote about Naples myself, several years back (and obviously can't do as well as Ferrante, since I'm not actually from Naples). Also added the DVD of the Paris Opera Ballet's Manon to my wishlist as well as some clothes and stuff.
Honestly, I don't care that much about all this stuff, you know? Some of it is very practical and helps me that way, but mostly it's all things I could get myself over time, it'd just take a bit longer... I don't really know what I actually want for my birthday, I haven't figured it out yet, what with the difficult situation with my parents, but I'll give it some thought.
For now, I've gotten a new layout for my journal, simple and bright with a header image of a dancer dancing Emilia from "The Moor's Pavane". I love that image and it looks so good with my default icon.
See, simple little things like that make me so much more happy than birthdays.
