BLACK AND WHITE by
wondering
whether by desaturating herself
she could avoid capture
the winged thing picks pink petals and red leaves
out of her white skirts
green branches out of her obsidian hair
and makes herself
into grey shades
that augment her figure without
dyeing it
and so she stays
alive
until even the color
of blood in her veins
freezes over
REINCARNATION by
no one will remember us
in a later time
I will be thin
air and currents
that constantly change
I will be gone
while you
will be a cautionary tale:
don’t run
into the woods
it’s where you lose
your mind at best
and your life
at worst
to that I can attest
though I suppose
if we are reborn
as warnings
of our past fates
we will at least
be born
interrelated
once more

DIVERTISSEMENT from LA SYLPHIDE: Alexandra Lo Sardo & Ulrik Birkkjær
I remember watching this when it was first put up, on Vimeo I think, and thinking it was quite excellent. It was just around the time that Nikolaj Hübbe's black and white La Sylphide premiered, in which Lo Sardo was one of the three ballerinas cast as the Sylph with her usual partner, Alban Lendorf. I didn't get to see her in that version and I imagine she might have been very different from what she's like here, as that version takes a rather different spin on the character. Here she's a real fairy, light and springy and spritely. Very charming, expressive and sweet. Her facial expressions are a delight, attested by the 30 icons I had to make of her, half of which I'm using for my new the Sylph RP journal.

Vacation is what is going on. K. has the next week off, so we're not doing anything whatsoever, except each writing on our own projects. My project ended up being to try and write 100 La Sylphide inspired poems in 30 days, finishing by the 16th next month. It's been a slow start, only one poem yesterday and the day before - the two you find up above, but I plan to write three today and maybe catch up that way. The prompts for today are, "song inspired", probably inspired by A Sky of Honey by Kate Bush, "the lark ascending" and "pink". I have reasonably solid ideas for all three, so I hope I can do it. First, however, I have to do some canon-rewatching (oh, the hardship! lol) and eat breakfast, so I get a good start to the day.

Like I said, I made a new the Sylph journal (
