wednesday.

Ahsoka premiered at 3 am in Europe and K. and I will probably be watching it later today, unless K. manages to get up early and watch it this morning, in which case I might join her and watch over her shoulder.

I'm not really a Star Wars fan, but since K. introduced me to Clone Wars, I've been a bit more invested and I really love Ahsoka as a character, so I'm excited and a bit nervous to see what this new series brings.

So many expectations can be ruined very, very fast, after all.

EDIT: My silly GF actually stayed awake till 3 am and watched it. She has mixed feelings. We'll be watching it together later today.

I don't have any plans today, which is really nice. I think I might just sit down and watch Napoli again, maybe read more in My Brilliant Friend which I started last week. It gives such a sense of Naples in that era. I really love it.

Also, I know it's universally criticized, but Hübbe's vision with his new interpretation of Napoli is sooooo good. The aesthetic is so bright and summerly and the story is well told. Bournonville is only to blame for a percentage of that, because this Napoli is wholly Hübbe's project, even the steps are changed in places. And honestly, the places that he's changed the most - like the second act - are the absolute best parts, which says a lot.

And as always, Alexandra Lo Sardo has my heart, no matter what she does. Her Teresina is so genuine and heartfelt.

Ever since writing a Danish piece on it, I've always wanted fanfic for Teresina and Giovanina. I just have this feeling they were really good friends before Gennaro, then had a fall-out and they could become close again, if Giovanina either got over herself or Gennaro was taken out of the equation... Maybe both, both is good.

An idea for some rainy day.

I slept until noon, because I sat up last night, and have just made tea and taken my pills. I've spent until now writing notes for a new take on that [community profile] smallfandombang Marie Antoinette fic, because I kept struggling with the original one, x-over with Manon Lescaut and I couldn't quite figure out what exactly made it hard for me to connect with it. Well, I've been reading Fools Rush In by shulamithbond (Marie Antoinette/Madame du Barry, explicit) because I'm a huge femslash fan and like to see femslash in absolutely everything, and I realised along the way that the general idea I had of Antoinette getting a mistress was no doubt inspired by her relationship to du Barry in the movie and I should just -- well, go with that, rather than force Manon into the equation.

So, I tried imagining some scenes and it all came pouring out, so that I am currently sitting with the framework for an estimated 20.000 word story. Mostly plotted out and prepped, except for the cupious amounts of historical shit I have to look up. Like, 18th century clothes? How does that work? It's my luck the film kinda also makes its own universe, because then I can mainly stick to that. Vocabulary, however, is still very much a thing. Help.

If nothing else, I should probably get started on the Marie Antoinette biography I borrowed yesterday.

Also, also, it's too warm, send sprinklers.
