I'm getting more and more excited about the Marie Antoinette/Manon Lescaut idea.

Have made a RP journal for Marie Antoinette ([personal profile] encorevivante) to get some practice with her voice beforehand and am rereading the beginning of Prévost's Manon Lescaut currently, but will be rewatching act 1 of the ballet later today, since I think I'll be crossing MA over with the MacMillan version, not the novel. The way the plot is rendered in the ballet fits what I need for the x-over better than the novel does (like, more of Manon's brother's idiocy), though honestly, both could have worked. I just really love Alexandra Lo Sardo's portrayal of Manon and will probably stick to the RDB production, thank Heavens it's still on YouTube.

Or, if all else fails, I'll try getting my hands on the Royal Ballet version with Sarah Lamb, have only seen gifs from that one but it looks absolutely stunning!

I've found the most perfect Marie Antoinette playlist. It is literally an hour of nothing but songs that vibe just right with me. Will be writing to this happily.

Am slowly making notes for the story structure and reading up on a lot of historical shit, not because I'm writing about a real historical person, but because even when I intend to stay strictly within the constraints of the movie's portrayal of the period, there are things that only make sense in context and I have questions, pretty much. So many questions. However, I love the naturalness that Kirsten Dunst imbues Marie Antoinette with, she is truly just a teenager fucking around in a sick system not made for her. I love that and it's probably going to kind of be my baseline for my own interpretation of the character in this fic.

So, yes. Excited!
