Obsessed with this photo today, by photographer Ingrid Bugge, who worked with the Royal Danish Ballet throughout their 2011/2012 season and made an amazing photo book from the resulting pictures, called The Essence of Ballet. I own it, it's expensive as fuck, but soooooo beautiful. She has an amazing aesthetic. I might share some more photos from it at a later time.

I've reached the part of Manon and Marguerite's story now where everything is dreary and sad, and trying to stay in that mood without actively being affected by how hopeless everything is. Sometimes I fear I feel with my characters a little too much, lol.

I've been listening to Chopin's Andante Spianato and Grande Polonaise Brilliante the past couple of hours while writing and while it's got both the soft, sad feel and the sharpness of Manon, it wasn't quite what I was looking for going forward to the next scene.

So I thought, I want Leonard Cohen but without actual Leonard Cohen vocals. So I started digging into covers and I'm sure Cohen must be one of the most covered artists of all time. Some ten years ago they made an album with Danish versions of some of his songs, sung by some of our most celebrated artist here and it's still my favourite Cohen, hands down. Love it.

Lena Måndotter, however, is also excellent and her version of Dance Me to the End of Love is my go-to writing music right now. It's got the perfect mood for what I'm trying to make. Hope you all enjoy as well!
